How Lornyvas researches, writes, and reviews its pet-care content, our commitment to humane methods, and how we stay independent.

Trust is the only thing that makes a pet publication worth reading — because the advice here can affect a living animal. This page explains how we research, write, review, and maintain everything on Lornyvas, how we keep readers pointed toward their vet, and how we stay independent.
How we choose what to cover
We write about the questions real owners actually have: a puppy that won't settle, a cat that's stopped using the litter box, what to feed at each life stage, how to spot when something is an emergency, and how to prepare for a new pet's first weeks at home. Ideas come from our own animals, our fostering and shelter work, reader questions, and the problems we see owners struggle with. We don't chase trends or fear for traffic's sake.
How we research and write
Every article is written or edited by a named member of our team with direct, hands-on experience of pets — including a former veterinary technician on staff. We draw on reputable sources such as veterinary and animal-welfare organisations, peer-reviewed guidance, and first-hand experience, rather than recycling what other sites say. Claims that depend on facts are linked to their source, and we note when something varies by species, breed, age, or individual animal.
Humane, force-free methods
We only recommend training and behavior approaches that are humane and kind. We favour positive, force-free, reward-based methods and put the animal's wellbeing first. We will not promote shortcuts that rely on fear, pain, or intimidation, and we'll say plainly when a popular technique isn't fair to the animal.
Health content and your vet
Health, nutrition, and medical content gets extra care. It is reviewed for responsibility and is written to support — never replace — your veterinarian. Where a topic touches on symptoms, medication, or anything that could be serious, we flag clearly when readers should consult their own vet or seek emergency care, and we err on the side of "when in doubt, call your vet." See our disclaimer for the full picture.
How we make recommendations
Our recommendations are brand-agnostic. We start from your pet's needs and your budget, not from a brand we'd like to promote. Sometimes the best answer is the simpler option, the cheaper option, or no purchase at all — and we'll say so.
Our use of AI tools
Our articles are written and edited by people. We may use software for spell-checking, research, or suggesting outlines, but a human writer is responsible for the substance, accuracy, and final wording of everything we publish. We do not publish auto-generated content.
Independence and advertising
Lornyvas is funded by advertising and, occasionally, affiliate links. To protect your trust:
- We never accept payment to give a positive review or to feature a product in editorial content — there is no pay-for-placement.
- Advertising is clearly distinguishable from articles.
- Affiliate relationships never change our verdict — see our disclaimer for the full disclosure.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do, we fix them quickly and transparently — especially anything that could affect an animal's wellbeing. If you spot an error or an out-of-date detail, email [email protected] or use our contact form. Substantive corrections are noted on the article.
Updates
Because veterinary guidance and best practices evolve, we revisit popular guides and refresh them. When an article is meaningfully updated, the publication date reflects the most recent revision.
